Geographic Resource Solutions

GRS provided comprehensive consulting services to Champion International for over 3 years during the redesign of their entire corporate GIS.  Working closely with the Forest Information Systems department and technical foresters, GRS provided technical consultation for needs analysis, conceptual GIS design, and system evaluation.  Mr Koltun facilitated system and database design workshops with Champion personnel, provided technical consultation, and acted as a liaison for GIS-vendor relations. 

After the system selection by Champion, GRS designed a phased transition from Microstation CAD/ MGE and MapInfo-based systems to towards the goal of a spatial warehouse based on Oracle Spatial.  This project involved providing database consultation, design, and development services including database design, business rule and process design, technology integration, workflow development, database prototyping, project management, training, workflow and application design, and designing processes for system transition into Oracle Spatial and GeoMedia.

GRS also drafted policies and created manuals for Accuracy Standards, Data Maintenance Standards, Metadata Development, and Cartographic Standards.
