Line-point Transect Cover Data Collection and Processing
The GRS Densitometer is an innovative tool for the unbiased sampling of land cover using the line-point transect methodology. Our customers primarily use the GRS Densitometer for vegetation/land-cover assessment and the development of ground-truth when accurate, consistent, and detailed cover estimates are required. To enhance the utility of the GRS Densitometer, GRS has developed transect data collection and summary software. These applications allow the user to enter data collected using the line-point transect or ocular methodologies directly into a hand-held or portable computer.
- TransIn -- Edit and process your line-point transect or data or ocular estimates as you collect it in the field. TransIn is compatible with any hand-held data recorder that runs Windows CE. This program was written specifically for data collection using the line-point transect methodology and the GRS Densitometer. For more information visit our TransIn page where you can download TransIn.
- TransSum -- Processes the field data collected using TransIn. TransSum is extremely useful for generating vegetation/land-cover cover descriptions that summarize your field data by species-specific name, canopy layer, and size (dbh) class. This program was written specifically for summarizing data collected using the line-point transect methodology using the GRS Densitometer as a decision-rule to determine which species/features to include in the sample data set.
