We have posted the slides from a recent land cover mapping accuracy assessment presentation at ASPRS based on work performed at Lassen Volcanic National Park by Ken Stumpf on our Remote Sensing Downloads page.
Titled "The Design/Implementation of an Accuracy Assessment at LAVO" This presentation describes our recent Accuracy Assessment efforts, in terms of design and implementation at Lassen Volcanic National Park. Ken discusses the techniques we used generate a random stratified sample that covered all map classes designated for sampling. Techniques include random generation of X,Y locations, spatially relating sample points to polygons, and list sampling to determine actual sample locations within each map stratum. Concerns dealing with sampling near map boundaries and data collection tools and processes are also presented.
