The GRS Densitometer is made of tough injection molded plastic. The housing can be easily cleaned with warm soapy water and a soft cloth.

Care must be taken with the lenses. They are a high-density plastic, but like plastic eyeglasses, they can be scratched if you are not careful. Treat the lenses as you would a pair of glasses: use a soft cloth and a mild cleanser. Glass cleaners may damage the lenses since many cleaner are designed for glass, not plastic. Make certain any cleaners are safe for plastic.

If you get dirt or water inside the housing, you can easily take the housing apart. You will need a square-head driver to remove the screws. You can purchase a suitable driver from most hardware, home supply, or auto-parts store. If you purchase a GRS Densitometer Repair Kit, you will receive a driver as part of the kit.

If you take your GRS Densitometer apart you can clean the lenses and the housing in your dishwasher, but do not use the dry cycle. DO NOT clean the leveling vials in the dishwasher, they must be cleaned by hand.

Care must be taken with the leveling vials as they have been glued into place with a dab of Super Glue. While they may be wiped clean of dirt and debris they cannot be removed without damaging the vials. If you have a problem with a vial and need to replace the vial you will need to contact GRS about replacement parts.
